HDB kitchen cabinet installation: avoiding common structural problems (pitfalls)

Ensure proper wall anchoring to prevent cabinets from collapsing, avoid overloading cabinets beyond their weight capacity, and waterproof areas prone to moisture to prevent wood rot.
Seal all edges and joints with waterproof sealant, especially around the sink and countertop areas. Consider using water-resistant materials for cabinets near water sources.
Distribute heavy items evenly across shelves and avoid concentrating weight in one area. Reinforce shelves if necessary, especially for storing heavy appliances or cookware.
Leave a small gap between the cabinets and the wall to allow for air circulation. Consider installing ventilation fans or dehumidifiers in the kitchen to reduce moisture levels.
Concrete walls are ideal. For plasterboard walls, ensure adequate support by installing cabinets on studs or using heavy-duty anchors designed for plasterboard.
